Welcome to LinguisticsLinguistics is the study of language: old, new, everyday, special, spoken, or written language. Are you curious about how children acquire language? About how adults learn a second language? About how you can inadvertently insult people by what you say? What is the best way to learn a new language? Linguists are interested in questions such as these. We offer the Ph.D., M.A. (both thesis and non-thesis), B.A., and two undergraduate minors (the Linguistics minor and the TESL minor). TESL Certificates are also offered at the M.A. levels. Our program offers courses in both theoretical and applied linguistics, including Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, and Psycho/Neurolinguistics. Our students are encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary interests. Please explore these pages to learn more about our faculty, courses, graduate students, activities, and research interests.
